Thanks for a Successful Mura Sushi Pop-Up!

We had a blast on Thursday, March 5, 2020, for our first Mura Sushi pop-up and demonstration. Thank you to the thirty guests who joined us at Edwards Mill Bar & Grill.

Chef Matt Lowery and Mr. Choi did a fantastic job demonstrating and feeding the lucky guests who were able to snag tickets to our sold-out pop-up event! The sushi station was set up in the front of our Canes Room where everyone was able to see how each sushi roll was made.

Guests enjoyed their favorite garden salad with ginger dressing to start. Before diving into some of the most popular sushi rolls from Mura, a special Vegetable Gyoza appetizer was served. The first sushi roll of the night was Mura’s signature “Screaming ‘O'” featuring spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, seared tuna, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. The next roll was the “Rainbow Roll” which is a traditional “Cali Roll” with tuna, avocado, eel, and salmon. The last roll was Mura’s “Piano Roll” – everyone was excited to taste this favorite again! The Piano Roll is made with tempura shrimp, spicy crab salad, avocado, eel sauce, and wasabi mayo. The night ended with a dessert duo of chocolate tarte and fried cheesecake maki served with vanilla ice cream. The two desserts are now on the Edwards Mill Bar  & Grill menu so run, don’t walk to get the dessert you’ve been missing for so long.

Everyone left with full stomachs and a sushi goodie bag filled with everything you need to make their own sushi, plus a container of Mura ginger dressing! Mura Sushi Pop-Up & Demonstration

We know you’ve missed enjoying sushi with our sister property at Mura in North Hills so we’re hosting a pop-up and sushi demonstration on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 7 p.m. here at Edwards Mill Bar & Grill!

Tickets are just $49 per guest and include take-home recipes covering how to season rice and assemble Mura’s signature standard and specialty sushi rolls, as well as nigiri! Attendees will also receive a small gift basket of take-home products and of course, samples of all items prepared by Chef Matt Lowery.

We know you love sipping wine while enjoying sushi, so we’ll also have crowd-favorite Kim Crawford New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on special for just $29 a bottle!

About Chef Matt Lowery

North Carolina born and raised Matt Lowery is a graduate of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham. Chef Matt serves as executive chef at Edwards Mill Bar & Grill and sister property Cameron Bar & Grill and has been named the winner of several local cooking competitions including Iron Chef at North Hills (a two-time champion!), BugFest Critter Cookoff at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and Toast to the Triangle (the culinary competition and silent auction that raises money for the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities). In 2017, Chef Matt was recognized as Eschelon Experience’s Manager of the Year and we could not be more proud to have him at the helm of our culinary offerings now.
